Celebrating the City's 100th Anniversary
Centennial Events
Centennial City Council Meeting Tuesday, September 5, 2006 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. As a tribute to the first City Council Meeting in 1906. Council Members wore period clothing an arrived to City Hall in a horse-drawn carriage. The events, which preceded the regularly scheduled City Council meeting, also included the unveiling of the City's Centennial Bell, a special birthday cake and music.
Centennial Country Fair Saturday, September 9, 2006 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Country Picnic featured live music spanning several decades, barbecue and food booths, games and prizes, a classic car show, an old fashioned hay ride, petting zoo, and much more. There also was a fireworks display at 7:15 p.m., which was free and open to the public.
Centennial Ball Tuesday, September 26, 2006 6:30 p.m A formal black-tie gala that featured live music and an elegant dinner. Guests, included city officials and business leaders from Huntington Park and the Los Angeles area.
