Responsibilities
The Housing and Community Development Division is responsible for the administration and oversight of the Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnership Program. These programs are funded by the U.S. Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and are aimed at addressing the priority needs of low and moderate income households through community development, economic development, housing, and public services.
Services
- Developing new programs and services;
- Providing public information to the public with reference to funding opportunities;
- Encouraging public participation in the community development process;
- Monitoring fair housing activities;
- Processing environmental reviews;
- Providing economic opportunities and
- Addressing a variety of community needs
Property Rehabilitation Programs
The Housing and Community Development Division is also responsible for Property Rehabilitation activities which include administration of the Residential Rehabilitation Program, the Minor Home Repair Program and the Commercial Rehabilitation Program.
These programs improve the aesthetic of the City by assisting existing residents, business owners and property owners in making improvements to their homes, businesses and properties. These programs are possible due to the Community Development Department’s effective management of the City’s grants from the U.S. Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and the HOME Investment Partnership programs. These programs allow the City of Huntington Park to address various housing and community needs.
